The policy shall be to provide requisite and adequate facilities in an architectural style and form which is distinguished and which will reflect the dignity, enterprise, vigor, and stability of the American National Government. Specific attention should be paid to the possibilities of incorporating into such designs qualities which reflect the regional architectural traditions of that part of the Nation in which buildings are located. Where appropriate, fine art should be incorporated in the designs, with emphasis on the work of living American artists. Designs shall adhere to sound construction practice and utilize materials, methods and equipment of proven dependability. Buildings shall be economical to build, operate and maintain, and should be accessible to the handicapped.

The advice of distinguished architects ought to, as a rule, be sought prior to the award of important design contracts.

讓聯(lián)邦大樓再次美麗

“讓聯(lián)邦大樓再次美麗”這份草案的主要內容要求所有造價超過五千萬美元的聯(lián)邦公共建筑和一些紀念性建筑必須采用“古典風格”，包括嚴格對稱的立面，重復排列的羅馬柱等，不建議使用現(xiàn)代設計風格，尤其反對野蠻主義(Brutalism)風格，尤其反對粗野主義(brutalism)的 介入。

如果一個聯(lián)邦項目被提議采用古典風格之外的其他風格，那么項目將由一個名為“再次美化”(re-beautification)的委員會來進行方案審查，并由白宮進行最后決策。白宮聲稱此舉可以提升民眾對政府的尊敬。

建筑師強烈反對新草案

草案批判了一系列現(xiàn)代主義、粗野主義風格的聯(lián)邦建筑，像邁阿密法院就是最近行政命令草案中提到的建筑物之一。
